Bio
David Zolo
David Zolo is a Colombian artist from the city of Medellin, aged 33, he's currently located between Miami, US and Santa Elena, Colombia (a town recognized by its flowers, where he's got his painting and sculpture workshop)
The artist is inspired by the nature and his memories in South America and Europe where he lived for several years (Argentine, France and Switzerland)
David Zolo paints his art pieces using roses from Colombia, besides being his own technique, his art supports the local sustainable development.
Painting with roses
From a very young age, roses were very important to me. I have the memory as a child of having gone to an event that takes place every year in the city of Medellín called "El Desfile de Silleteros"
This is the central event of the Feria De Las Flores in Medellín, you can see millions of flowers loaded in chairs on the back of "Silleteros" that make up works of art inspired by beautiful landscapes, portraits and messages with values.
The "silleteros" are a great inspiration for my artistic life, they are “Campesinos” people from the village of Santa Elena, who from generation to generation compose these works of art with a great variety of flowers that grow in the mountains and forests of Santa Elena in Medellin.
Painting with roses
In 2018, after having traveled through South America and Europe, *I* made the decision to open my art and ceramics workshop in Santa Elena surrounded by all these flowers that inspired me with their beauty and colors. When I started to paint, I discovered that using roses as a brush, I managed to create textures and movements that I like, and I also managed to immortalize each of those roses forever in my paintings, like poetry.
This is how my technique of painting with roses was born, mainly to the inspiration of Colombian flower growers but also to the way that each unique Colombian rose leave forever in my paintings.
current art collection
Gïo
The current art collection is called Gïo, in honor of his mother (Guiomar Scarlet Tamayo) who passed away in 2021.
The artist with this collection wants to remember his mother who was always a great motivation in his artistic life.
In this collection he wants to share feelings and memories lived using art as his way of expression.
There are two essential things in this collection, the light that will allow us to discover the work of art in its entirety and the roses that he uses as brushes in his own technique of abstract art.
